The problem
Structural steel roof trusses were showing surface corrosion after years of humid coastal exposure, and the shed interior had darkened badly, forcing supplementary lighting during day shifts. All work had to finish inside the annual shutdown — no extensions possible.
The diagnosis
Corrosion was surface-level, not structural, so mechanical preparation and a protective coating system were sufficient. Repainting the interior in a light reflective finish would also measurably improve shop-floor light levels.
What we did

- 2Mechanical cleaning and wire brushing of steel to the required preparation grade
- 3Zinc-rich anti-corrosive primer on all structural steel
- 4Epoxy topcoat to specified dry film thickness, with DFT readings recorded
- 5Interior shed surfaces repainted in a light reflective finish
- 6Floor line marking refreshed for walkways and forklift lanes
- 7Handover pack: method statement, datasheets and DFT records
The result
Completed and handed back a day inside the shutdown window. Shop-floor light levels improved enough to reduce daytime supplementary lighting.
